With the popularity of smart technology on the rise worldwide, people are becoming more reliant on voice assistants to help them in their day-to-day lives. New laws on the roads are discouraging drivers from handling their devices whilst on the move, placing a clear emphasis on voice control as the way forward for communicating at the wheel. Since the launch of Apple’s Siri, voice assistants have become commonplace with Google’s Assistant, Amazon’s Alexa and Microsoft’s Cortana gaining popularity in recent years.
Amid these safety concerns and a desire to build upon their extremely popular Steering Wheel Control range, Connects2 Ltd. have updated their interfaces to a new .3 standard, allowing for the retention of Voice Assistants when changing an OEM stereo to an aftermarket model.
Each interface comes preloaded with bespoke software which talks to the vehicle and ensures that a ‘Voice’ function is assigned to one of the buttons on the steering wheel, as well as retaining other key functions such as pick up, hang up, volume up and down, track up and down, source and more.
With exactly the same functionality as their .2 interfaces but with the huge benefits of an active Voice Assistant, this new range of products from Connects2 represents a high watermark in aftermarket integration and design. For drivers who do not require this new feature, the pre-existing range of .2 interfaces remain available for purchase.
